This report presents a brief summary of the sequential parts of the programming language MPD. The digest is based on Part I of the book The SR Programming Language - Concurrency in Practice by Gregory R. Andrews and Ronald A Olsson - indeed, much of this document is more or less a compressed version of the first chapters of this book, translated into MPD, and with many portions of text and examples taken verbatim from there. Other sources include the tutorial found at http://www.cs.arizona.edu/mpd/language.html, and earlier lecture notes on the SR language produced by Magnus Carlsson, Andy Moran and others at Chalmers University of Technology.
