Abstract
The 24-Hour Knowledge Factory (24HrKF) paradigm enables round-the-clock activity through the use of 3 or more teams of workers, with each team working from 9 am to 5 pm in the concerned time zone. It utilizes the concept of shifts to decrease the turnaround time for many types of white-collar work. The transition from one shift of workers to another, located in a different continent, requires the use of new technologies and methodologies. The presentation will include novel methods for task allocation and collaboration, as well as a new agile software development process tailored for the 24-Hour Knowledge Factory. The team will also present on new collaborative tools that are being developed. Several graduate students from CS department are currently involved in this interdisciplinary research endeavor, and they will participate in the session.
Speakers: Professor Amar Gupta (Thomas R. Brown Professor of Management and Technology); Nathan Denny (Doctoral Student, ECE); Shivram Mani, Jamie Samdal, Ravi Sheshu, and Manish Swaminathan (all Masters Students in CS)
