Installing and Configuring Sophos version 6.5.x.x for Windows XP
Once you have downloaded the installation program (savxp60sasfx.exe), follow these steps to install and configure Sophos:
- Before installing Sophos Anti-Virus version 6.5:

- If you have any other vendor's anti-virus software, you must uninstall it before installing Sophos.
- If you have Sophos Anti-Virus 3.xx installed, it is recommended that you uninstall Remote Update (if you have it) and then uninstall Sophos Anti-Virus 3.xx.

- click Install

- The extraction process takes awhile...

- click Next to begin installation

- click Next to continue

- change info as per email sent to you when you requested access to Sophos:

- click Next

- click Next

- this takes awhile...

- Then:

- click Finish to complete installation.

- You will notice the Sophos icon in the system tray flashing, indicating that the installation is completing and that the AutoUpdate feature is checking for updates.
- After awhile the icon will stop flashing. Hover the mouse pointer over the icon in the system tray and it will indicate the date and time last updated.
- Right-click on the Sophos icon in the system tray and select Configure Updating...

- Go to the Schedule tab

- You can change the frequency for checking for updates to a higher number; e.g., 480 minutes for every 8 hours, 1440 minutes for every 24 hours.

Note: the install directory (e.g., c:\savxpsa) can be removed after installation.
