Sophos Anti-Virus Software
General Information
The University of Arizona has purchased an unlimited site license for Sophos anti-virus products. These are available at no cost to UA faculty, staff, and students for use on campus and personal systems. Regular updates of the software and virus definitions are also provided. Applying these updates is critical in order to protect your PC from new viruses.
Machines within CS
All Windows-based PCs managed by the Computer Science Department are protected by Sophos Anti-Virus. A central server monitors Lab machines and desktops and pushes updates to them on a regular basis.
Other Machines
UA faculty, staff, and students are allowed to use Sophos products offered via The University of Arizona Software Licensing (aka Sitelicense). Updates should come from the UofA Sophos server. Some older Department laptops and personal machines may still receive updates from the CS web server, but all will be transitioned to the UofA Sophos server.
