Welcome to the DsCats project homepage!
DsCats is an award winning project that was developed by Justin Cappos and Dr. Patrick Homer over the summer of 2001. The idea was to create a tool that would present data structure information that would be useful to students taking a beginning or intermediate class dealing with data structures. The code was all written in Java by Justin but many of the good ideas came from Dr. Homer.
The purpose of this site is to provide information, updates, and enhancements related to the DsCats project. The DsCats project displays data structures in a way that is easy for beginning students to understand the information. It also is excellent for presentations and has a variety of other features.
DsCats may be freely used and modified. You can download a copy of version 2.0 which includes the User Manual and Programmer Manual. There are also online versions of the User Manual and Programmer Manual available. There is also a technical paper (University of Arizona TR 01-02) on DsCats available in PDF and PS formats that describes its abilities, how it fits in historically with other programs, and some of its possible uses in a classroom setting.
If you are interested in contributing to this project or would like to be notified of updates, bug fixes, and project information simply send an E-mail to the project account and explain if you’d like to contribute or just receive information.
