Department Head

Applications are invited for the position of Head of the Department of Computer Science. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field. They are expected to have a strong record of teaching and research at a university, but candidates from industry with a strong research record are also encouraged to apply. Administrative experience, particularly at a university, will be an asset. The successful candidate will bring strong academic leadership, vision, and innovation.

The University of Arizona is well known for its broad research strengths and exceptional interdisciplinary programs and institutes. The Computer Science Department, within the highly regarded College of Science, has a long history of core research in computing science, and is rapidly expanding collaborative efforts across campus. Currently there are 17 faculty, about 100 graduate students, and 500 undergraduate majors. The department (www.cs.arizona.edu) has an aggressive plan for growth, and the planned formation of a School of Computational and Mathematical Sciences will improve the positioning of the department across campus and provide substantial new resources including a new building and additional faculty.

Salary for qualified applicants is competitive and commensurate with experience. The position includes a commitment from the university for at least three new faculty lines.
