Position Title: Graduate Assistant: System Developer

Department: The University of Arizona Library

Position Summary: This position will support the development of digital information content and services. This position does coding, testing, documenting, and debugging of systems and programs. The salary is $27K annually with benefits of tuition remission, and health care. The position is subject to availability of funding.

Working Hours: 20 hours (Graduate Assistant position). Hours will vary from 8:00AM to 6:00PM.

Duties and responsibilities:

* Provides technical support for the team projects by implementing and programming digital library tools.

* Reviews and writes documentation of program code, applications, instructions, and expected results.

* Tests and debugs code.

* Other tasks assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

* Graduate student or Senior undergraduate student in Computer Science (CS), Computer Engineering, MIS,
or related fields;

Preferred Qualifications:

* Knowledge of program testing, data file manipulation practices and access methods.

* Strong skill in writing computer code in Java and Perl.

* Skill in analyzing systems and program specifications.

* Skills in LAMP.

* Knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as MySQL.

* Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

* Ability to learn and continuously apply new knowledge

* Ability to work in a collaborative, diverse, team-based environment.

* Flexible, open-minded, and comfortable with working on various tasks.
