Texpand

Texpand is an early stage web start-up company that will add a new layer of functionality to static Internet articles and online text. Texpand’s dynamic commenting system will allow users to collectively annotate text while providing readers with valuable user-generated information and content providers with increased advertising revenue. Furthermore, since people reading the same articles most likely share similar interests. Texpand will also allow for basic social interaction. We are looking to do for online comments what YouTube did for videos.

Texpand has been invited to participate in the 2008 Yale Entrepreneurial Institute (YEI) Fellowship Program. YEI is a selective initiative sponsored by Yale University that provides funding, mentors, and expertise to help launch student ventures.

Who We’re Looking For…

We are looking for athird co-founderwho will serve as ourChief Technology Officer.

The ideal candidate for Texpand’s third co-founder is an experienced web developer who is extremely intelligent, a team-player, adaptable to rapidly changing circumstances, willing to take risks, and able to quickly learn new programming languages. Most importantly, we need someone who hasexperience building scalable, web-based back-ends and is comfortable with front-end technologiessuch as HTML, Flash, and AJAX.

The Chief Technology Officer will be responsible for overseeing Texpand’s technological architecture and build-out, while the other two co-founders focus on business development, marketing, and finance. Ability to relocate to Yale’s campus in New Haven, Connecticut for June and July 2008, and then to California thereafter is strongly preferred. Texpand’s third co-founder will receive a generous equity share and a stipend to cover summer living expenses.

Alternatively, we will also consider applicants with a strong programming background who are interested in asummer internship. The intern’s primary responsibility will be to build a Texpand prototype. Because Texpand is a company in its very early stages, the intern will be entrusted with tremendous responsibility and will participate in all aspects of launching a small business. Benefits include a stipend and the possibility of a small equity share.
