Position Title:  Graduate Assistant (Graphics/Web Design) for DCAP Team

Department:  University Libraries, Digital Library and Information Systems Team (DLIST)

Position Summary:

The UA Libraries, Digital Library Information Systems Team seeks a Graduate Assistant who will design, develop, and support web sites and web applications.  This is a .50 FTE (20 hours/week) appointment.  Hours will be between 8AM and 5PM, Monday through Friday, and will be determined at time of hire.  Hire will be made on a semester by semester basis, with the possibility of renewal for the second semester.

Salary:  The pay rated for the Graduate Assistant (enrolled in a master’s degree program) position is $13,500 annualized salary prorated x .50 FTE = $6,750 per semester with benefits.

The Digital Library Information Systems Team (DLIST) provides and enhances a robust information technology and information access infrastructure as well as diverse services that enable The UA Libraries to achieve its vision.  Within DLIST, the DCAP team provides application programming, web design, usability testing, and support for the University of Arizona Libraries. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

100% - With an emphasis on graphic arts and media design works with other web design staff to analyze, plan, design and implement new and/or re-designed sites and web-based applications.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Graduate student enrolled in a graduate degree program in Visual Communication, Computer Science (CS), MIS or other program with a related undergraduate degree and/or work experience.

·         Have an admitting GPA of 3.0 or higher if a new student or maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

·         Minimum of 1 year experience and/or coursework in web design and/or graphic design.

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience or working knowledge in graphic arts and media design.

·         Experience or working knowledge in usability testing.

·         Experience with client-side technologies, including CSS, JavaScript and AJAX.

·         Experience in object-oriented PHP5, HTML and XML.

·         Experience with Linux application environment.

·         Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, creative, and detail and deadline oriented.
