Position Title:  Graduate Assistant (2 Programmers), Institutional Repository Team

Position Summary:

The UA Libraries, Digital Library Information Systems Team seeks a Graduate Assistant who will administer, enhance, and/or maintain Drupal-based (http://drupal.org/) applications in connection to UAiR the University of Arizona institutional repository (http://www.uair.arizona.edu/).  This is a .50 FTE (20 hours/week) appointment.  Hours will be between 8AM and 5PM, Monday through Friday, and will be determined at time of hire.  Hire will be made on a semester by semester basis, with the possibility of renewal for the second semester.

Salary:  The pay rate for the Graduate Assistant (enrolled in a master’s degree program) position is $13,500(equal to $6,750 per semester) with benefits.

The Digital Library Information Systems Team (DLIST) provides and enhances a robust information technology and information access infrastructure as well as diverse services that enable The UA Libraries to achieve its vision.  Within DLIST, the IR team provides and enhances the institutional repository for the University of Arizona. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

80% - Designs, implements, maintains, documents, and administers Drupal-based system solutions based on specifications.

20% - Coordinates with DLIST developers and server administrators to deploy development and production systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Graduate student enrolled in a graduate degree program in Computer Science (CS) or MIS with a related undergraduate degree.

·         Have an admitting GPA of 3.0 or higher if a new student or maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

·         Minimum of 1 year experience and/or coursework programming in an object-oriented environment, preferably PHP 5.  Experience with Python and/or Ruby will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience or coursework with Drupal.

·         Experience in object-oriented PHP5, HTML and XML.

·         Experience with client-side technologies, including CSS, JavaScript and AJAX.

·         Experience with Linux application environment.
