The Collaborative Applications Research Department of Avaya Labs Research has openings for interns during the summer of 2009 in its locations at New Jersey. We are seeking highly motivated graduate and undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing an exciting summer of research, exploring new research challenges in collaborative applications, information visualization and social media. Internships will have an implementation component with a strong research focus.

We are currently exploring social software for the enterprise and are working on a system to tag, share and visualize conversations in the enterprise. We are looking for students interested in information visualization and social media. Students must have strong programming skills. Experience with building web applications Java, JavaScript, Ajax, Flash is a plus. From their experience on these projects, students will take away a better understanding of social media, collaborative applications, enterprise software, what it takes to build large systems, and the many other intangibles derived from working with a strong team of seasoned researchers.
