The IRC (International Rescue Committee) is an international organization that provides relief, respect and renewal to refugees and victims of armed conflict around the world. See http://www.theirc.org.
The Tucson office is looking for an undergraduate student who would be interested in internship credit to set up an Access database for their Workforce Development Group. The project scope would include:
Importing data into an excel spreadsheet
Designing the database
Setting up specific queries that would involve date calculations and "if" statements
Designing a data entry screen
Designing reports relevant to our needs
This is open to students who have taken CSc 460. This is a great opportunity to make a real difference in the world, while getting technical experience with databases.
This internship will be coordinated by Professor Rick Snodgrass rts@cs.arizona.edu and will be managed by Diane Stuart Diane.Stuart@theirc.org who herself has experience with database management. It would be ideal if this internship could start soon, this semester. But doing the internship this summer is also a possibility. The relevant course is Internship, CSc 493, for 1-3 credits. Please contact either Rick or Diane for more information.
Use your skills to better the world!
