American Retroworks, Inc. (ARI) is a recycling management company. We assist communities and businesses in establishing and maintaining recycling programs. Our primary focus and expertise is on electronics recycling. Currently, we have three locations including our corporate headquarters in Middlebury, VT and "sister" facilities in Douglas, AZ and Fronteras, Sonora. After collecting material, we process it in the following ways: direct reuse, repair/refurbishing, breaking the material down into commodities (e.g. steel, plastic, copper, etc), or disposal. Our business model is based on human labor (vs. recyclers who run massive shredders), and trying to preserve as much value and embodied energy as we can. NPR has just recently profiled a few members of our partner organization in Mexico, a woman's co-op, "Las Chicas Bravas." ARI is currently working on a inventory management program that will help us market our material, improve quality standards, track sensitive material (e.g. HDDs) through our system, and reconcile shipments to our markets. This program would consist of a database and two (very simple) interfaces for 1) inventory and 2) creating shipping manifests. We have a very rudimentary version of this program that we have used to create shipping manifests for monitors that we send to a company for refurb/remanufacture. We could offer either a stipend or a share of proceeds if the product is marketed to other recyclers.

Looking for a web designer/developer to help build a simple site and CMS. A good opportunity to work with a young, growing, company, and to have creative license with your work. We have received national press several times in the past few years and are very well connected in the recycling industry, so there is potential for networking and further work. A good resume piece.
