Prospective Change of Major
Are you considering changing your major to pre-Computer Science, or adding pre-Computer Science as a secondary major or degree?
In order to complete this process, you must schedule an appointment with the pre-Computer Science advisor by calling 520-621-4632 or in person at the Gould-Simpson Building, room 901.
Prior to your advising appointment, you should review the program requirements for the Computer Science major. Because you are required to have earned As and Bs in all of your math and computer science coursework in order to be admitted to the Computer Science major, you may be required to retake some of your coursework in order to be competitive for admission. You must also have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in order to be admitted to the major, and must have a GPA of at least 2.0 to declare pre-Computer Science status. During your meeting with the pre-Computer Science advisor, you will be advised on the most effective pathway toward making yourself competitive for major admission.
If you are interested in CS but aren't sure if you'd like to change your major, you are free to enroll in one of our introductory courses in order to assess your interest and skill in this field. C SC 127A, C SC 127B, and C SC 227 are open on WebReg for all students. However, you will likely need to declare the pre-major in order to register for more advanced courses in the Computer Science Department.
