Personal Background

I am from Colorado, having spent many years there in Boulder. I did not initially stray far in obtaining both my undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Colorado. However, I decided to hop over a few states and climate zones get my doctorate.

Currently, I am a PhD student in the CS Department at the University of Arizona. My advisor is Stephen Kobourov and my fellow PhD student is Alejandro Estrella-Balderrama.

My main research interests include graph drawing and visualization, computational geometry, sensor networks, and graph-based algorithms. My dissertation thesis will focus on geometric versus the topological properties of level planarity. For more detail regarding my research, please visit my research page or the ULP web page.

On a more personal note, one of my hobbies has been taking pictures of saguaro cacti, which are overly abundant in Tucson, particularly the ugly ones. Until I came to Tucson, I had no idea just how ugly some of these things can be. What can I say except seeing is believing. Words don't really do these eye sores justice.
