About These Web Pages

My index page and all of its immediate children are XHTML compliant. They are based on the sample personal web page created by our former Web Czar, Gregg Townsend. The design and layout of these pages, and the top-level pages of the CS department web site, are due to Godat Design. Pages below the child pages are of a mixture of styles, and likely will be for a long while.

Making compliant web pages is fun. The errors that bit me most often while converting old pages: Having tag names in upper case, not closing every tag (esp. "br" and "li"), and putting "br" tags between "li" tags.

The various banner pictures were all taken or created by me. The lush green scene at the top of this page, for example, was taken in western Wisconsin in June of 2006.

The pages went 'live' July 31, 2006, then were moved to UArizona's U-System in 2017 when the CS department decided that its web server would no longer be maintained. The CS web server quietly bided its time until it was again supported. In 2023, when the university decided that logins to U-System would be disabled but no replacement was ready, the pages were moved back to the CS web server. Will these pages need to move again before I retire? Stay tuned!
