Thanks Tucson Marathon! This past Monday (12/10/01) we headed up Oracle Road on our morning bicycle ride. As we rode we became concerned that we did not have quite enough food for the ride. Fortunately for us, the Tucson Marathon passed down Oracle Road just the day before. Our food problem was soon solved as we were able to choose from a wide variety of unused energy gels littered along the side of the road. Out of the hundreds of packets we passed, we found at least thirty full ones upon which we feasted happily. As the ride progressed the clouds rolled in and the temperature dropped. We soon found ourselves cold and facing a 20mph head wind. Luckily, the Tucson Marathon was held the day before. On the side of the road we found a few pairs of gloves, some thermal running shirts and a nice hat. We were soon toasty warm and on we rode. We would like to thank the marathoners for making our ride more enjoyable by not cleaning up after themselves. We have only one favor to ask for next year -- if you are still unable to clean up your mess, would you mind leaving behind a few spare bicycle tubes? We had a couple of flat tires and not enough spares. Oh, and for next year - our favorite energy gel flavor is vanilla. Respectfully, Scott Morris Steve Ahlgren
