I am a fifth year PhD student who likes drawing and memorize things visually. I got a bachelor degree from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. I am currently studying data visualization in University of Arizona.
I am interested in data visualization in general, especially in how to understand neural networks e.g. why they are optimized, how they made their decisions, etc.
What long-term project do you want to work on?
My personal long-term interests are about appreciating the beauty of math and thinking of ways of educating myself (hopefully others as well) abstract/hard concepts with simple drawings/animations.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
The working space is large, open and quiet. In a relatively small scale department, everybody know everybody know each other so communication and coordination is transparent and smooth. Staff are nice to talk with, professors respect students' ideas and give enough freedom to student themselves.
What are your career goals?
My ideal career goal is becoming a professor, because they have enough freedom to choose what they would like to do (in terms of research area) and have access to superb minds.
Tell us something interesting about yourself!
I like sketching and oil painting and practiced a lot back in high school, but my recent art works tend to be digital, in terms of codes (which are either related or unrelated to my research work) and digital paintings with photoshop and a drawing pad.
