I am a 3rd year PhD student in Department of Computer Science, University of Arizona. I work with Prof. Kate Isaacs in the area of information visualization. I work on designing and developing visual analytics system to aid researchers in program analysis. Currently, I research in visualizing compiler optimizations in binary code. I am from Nepal. I received my Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. During my college years, I was drawn towards game programming which made me interested in pursuing graduate study in Computer Science. I believe there is a great potential for user-centric visualization to fill in gaps where current automation technique are not currently adequate.
My research interest is in the field of information visualization and graph visualization. I design and develop novel visualization techniques to help users make sense of complex data and link different facets of data. I enjoy developing new algorithms and techniques to highlight structures in the data to match the mental model of researchers.
What long-term project do you want to work on?
I like to work on projects that enable me to holistically solve a visualization problem. I like to work on designing, implementing, and evaluating solutions to visualization problem from different angle. I like to tackle problems such as scalability, design of encodings and interactions, interface design, and evaluation so that the research be deployed in the real world right out of the box.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy the fact that I get to work on a diverse set of projects and collaborate with researchers from various scientific disciplines. It makes me appreciate different scientific disciplines and helps me tie my research to the bigger picture of contributing to scientific knowledge in general. I get to see the impact of data visualization on speeding up research on other disciplines which keeps me motivated in my PhD.
What are your career goals
I would like to work in a research environment where I get to work closely with engineering teams to solve a real-life problem so that it can be deployed in real life and positively impact the lives of people.
