Biography


Justin Cappos is currently a Post Doc at the University of Washington working with Tom Anderson and Arvind Krishnamurthy. He completed his Ph. D. at the University of Arizona in May 2008. During his stay in Arizona he worked primarily with Beichuan Zhang and his dissertation advisor John Hartman. His research is focused on improving the security and efficiency of real world networks of computer systems. He has worked on a number of projects including Stork, San Fermín, and Seaweed (Microsoft Research Cambridge).

Prior to starting his Ph. D., Justin taught at Cochise college for 3 semesters. Before that he spent 6 years active duty in the military working on information security and server and network administration. He obtained B.S. degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Arizona while attending the Sierra Vista campus. Justin has a passion for service which has manifested itself by chairing the Graduate Student Committee for 2 years and coordinating undergraduate research for 4 years along with other tasks. When not doing service or research, Justin enjoys Salsa and Rueda dancing as well as playing the odd game of pool (especially using "British rules").
