Madge T. Griswold
Madge T. Griswold holds a BA degree in history and journalism from Syracuse
University and an MA degree in history from The University of Arizona.
She became a member of the technical editing group at Bell Laboratories
in 1962 and later worked in applications and administration of early document-preparation
systems.
In 1967 she joined the Programming Research and Development Department at
Bell Labs, where she continued experimental work with document preparation
systems.
In 1971 she moved to Tucson, Arizona, where she continued her education
and worked with her husband, Ralph E. Griswold, on a number of books, coauthoring
several with him, including works on SNOBOL4 and Icon.
In parallel, since 1975 she has had a significant professional involvement
in the culinary field. Her training includes extensive study in the United
States and France.
In 1994 she was appointed a trustee of the International Association of
Culinary Professionals Foundation, with responsibilities for its extensive
scholarship and award program.
In 1996 she was appointed vice chair and chair elect of the International
Association of Culinary Professionals Foundation.
Ms. Griswold is co-author of five books and numerous articles on programming
languages and three books in the culinary field. She is currently preparing
the sections on Texas and The Southwest for Culinaria: American Food.
